Troy Dashney, IDT, IDA, IDC
Principal

Bold Design Inc’s Principal, Troy Dashney graduated with Honours in 2002 from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology’s Interior Design Technology program.  With over twelve years of experience as an Interior Designer, Troy established Bold Design in 2007 (later incorporating it as Bold Design Inc in 2012) after five years working for one of Canada’s largest integrated architectural and interior design firms.  Troy has proven to have an eye for design excellence and Client management.

 

Troy is a continuous supporter of design in the province with various volunteer positions with the Interior Designers of Alberta and the Alberta Association of Architects.  Furthermore, Troy has been lecturing on retail design for the University of Alberta’s School of Retailing since 2004.  He has also established the Bold Design Award in Retailing at the University of Alberta in 2012 and at Concordia University of Edmonton in 2015.

 

For nearly five years, Troy was the Manager of Retail Tenant coordination for Oxford Properties overseeing over 300 retail and hospitality store openings across the province of Alberta.  This included being involved as part of the design development team of various urban retail developments in Calgary such as Bow Valley Square and Centennial Place.  Troy’s passion for design has allowed him to gain extensive knowledge in all aspects of design and construction, while creating strong relationships in the design and construction community.

 

Troy’s experience is multi-faceted and includes a multitude of projects varying from office spaces, exterior façade improvements, various retail projects for local, national and international brands.  With project experience from Vancouver to Winnipeg, Troy has alliances with consultants and contractors in various Western and Central Canadian cities.  

 

As a member of the Architectural Woodwork Manufacturer’s Association of Canada (AWMAC), the Interior Designers of Alberta (IDA) and the Interior Designers of Canada (IDC), Troy believes design is a push and pull relationship between a unified team comprised of the Client, Consultants, Contractor and Bold Design Inc.  Troy believes that the best projects are implemented with a strong team approach. 

Anthea Lakis, IDT
Designer

Anthea graduated with Honours from the NAIT Interior Design Technology program in 2006.  She began her design career at large Canadian integrated architectural and interior design firm. With experience including a variety of projects such as hospitality, corporate office and educational facility design, Anthea joined us in 2010. Her passion for design stems from her desire to help Clients improve the way they operate their business by understanding their unique needs and providing creative and functional solutions. 

Katrina Walker, BAID, IDAS, IDA, IDC
Designer

A graduate of Mount Royal University's Bachelor of Applied Interior Design with President's Honour Roll in 2017, Katrina is adept at building relationships and teams that can deliver a client’s vision; by filtering trends, research, applying design principles, so that each solution is client-adapted.

 

Katrina is uniquely suited to design retail environments because of her in-the-field experience owing to a sidebar career in merchandising, window and retail displays. Katrina has also worked on projects in sectors ranging from single-family homes, multi-family, retail, and hospitality ventures. Kiosks, public space amenities, and trade show exhibits were part of her undertakings for a large shopping centre conglomerate.

 

She is able to advance projects from concept through to site implementation and is adept at space planning, lighting, product specification and project coordination along with the technical skills to communicate with client and contractors alike. Katrina works carefully with suppliers and tradespeople to problem solve and seize unplanned opportunities.
