CASTLEDOWNS ANIMAL HOSPITAL
Edmonton, AB
July 2023
3,200 SQ FT
The Castledowns Animal Hospital was both an expansion from 1,600 square feet to 3,200 square feet along with a renovation to the majority of the existing clinic.
Working closely with the Client’s Construction Manager, the design and its execution was implemented over various phases with no closure to the clinic’s operation.
The new clinic grew to include: four examination rooms, new universal washrooms, an enlarged central reception area for three staff members, enlarged retail areas. One of the key requirements was also an enlarged procedure area which grew from one procedure table to three and also including a new dedicated surgery room. Other new rooms included a new dedicated staff area, doctor’s office and enlarged centralized veterinary pharmacy.
With the programming requirements achieved, the next wish was a new fresh, contemporary but not overly modern aesthetic. Taking design cues from BoHo Chic and Mid-Century Modern styles, the new aesthetic included new neutral flooring, off-whites as well as warm grey woods as well picket style tiles and matching wallcovering.
As part of the design, we coordinated all signage with the Client’s new brand and brand designer.
The final design achieved raving reviews from all animals.
