WILHAUK BEEF JERKY
As a third generation family business, we were delighted to work with Wailuku Beef Jerky on their first new concept in over 50 years. We started by understanding the history of the brand as well as the unique programming differences in this new location.
Working closely with our Clients we started with a plan that after a few iterations resulted in an increased leasable area that allowed the area to grow by nearly fifty percent. The end result as a retail area of about 500 square feet and about 1800 square feet for the production facility.
The overall concept hinged on family values, the brand history and the concept of fresh food. Playing homage to the history, Bold Design created a larger than life storyboard mural in one corner of the retail area that included an enlarged version of a late 70’s news article about the family run business. A salvaged rustic barn door from the Client’s family farm was used to separate the retail area from the production facility. Based on our sketch, the Client also fabricated the feature wood ceiling feature in the middle of the retail area that was based on farm fence posts that resulted in a unique one-of-a kind wood sculpture in the middle of the space.
